Spawn Quiz

I wonder exactly how many demon questions I can do in this quiz … Let’s go!

Pop Quiz Hot Shot!

1) Todd McFarlane is famous for writing many comics including Spawn. Born in Calgary, Alberta, he also was at one point a co-owner of a hockey team, but not the Calgary Flames. What team did he co-own?

2) You couldn’t possibly make a Spawn film without a song by The Prodigy. Name either of their UK number-one singles.

3) The Violator is plagued by John Leguizamo in the film. Famously he classed with Steven Seagal in what film, a rare example of Seagal dying on film?

4) In the beginning of the film Al Simmons is sent on a mission to destroy a biochemical weapons plant in North Korea. Now … remember the Korean War, and MacArthur. I shall return, all that. What kind of pipe did MacArthur very famously pose with in many photos?

5) It has  something to do with this movie, tangentially, but what is Tel Megiddo / why is it famous?

Bonus NYTimes Listing Question: A BMT oversight that is kind of unimaginable:

Can you name the film?

Answers

1) That would be the other Alberta team, the Edmonton Oilers. Has anyone bothered to ask why McFarlane hates the Flames? Anyways, he won an Emmy for his animated Spawn series.

2) You better have answered Firestarter (the other was Breathe). Firestarter was everywhere in 1996. And that was also the only song of theirs to go top 50 on the Billboard Top 100.

3) You know that is Executive Decision. Fun fact: Just bought it on VHS. I’m putting together a T&A 80s/90s comedy collection, but also a Seagal 90s actioner collection at the same time. My VHS collection is going to be off the chain.

4) You know I wouldn’t be asking this except for it being the classic natural bent corn cob pipe. He was from Arkansas and apparently it is from that area, so I suppose that makes sense.

5) Tel Meggido is a site in Isreal of the ancient town of Meggido. Oh, sorry, I guess the Greek name would be more helpful: Armageddon. It is the site, in the Book of Revelations, where the final battle is to take place. And yeah, it is also the goal of the Hellspawn in the Spawn comics.

Bonus NYTimes Listing Answer: That would be Big Bully. It has a 0% on Rotten Tomatoes. I remember watching it as a kid and I would always feel so bad about the moon rock bit in the beginning, that Moranis ratted him out and ruined his life … like legit ruined his life. Weird movie.

Don’t watch the bonus film, honestly Spawn is like 10x better.
