Oh man, so get this. I’m just a country girl from Nevada and I want to just get out of here. One problem, I bopped my head on my first trip on an airplane and now I can’t remember a thing! Do you remember what happened in View from the Top?
Pop Quiz Hot Shot!
1) Why did Paltrow decide on becoming a flight attendant?
2) Meetcute alert! Ruffalo is lake patrol. And how do they meet exactly?
3) When Paltrow gets into the Royalty Training School she gets to meet Bergen. What does Bergen see in her that makes her believe Paltrow can make it?
4) Aw but she failed the test and now has to live in Cleveland. But how? How did she fail the test?
5) Finally, she’s made it to Paris International! She did it! Well … but now she’s sad. Everything kind of just works out from here on … but most importantly what movie was Paltrow watching on TNT in the middle of the movie?
Bonus Question: Welp she’s a pilot now. That’s fun. While flying though, she gets a call. Who is it?
Answers
1) Well, she was at rock bottom. Her boyfriend broke up with her because she was “too small town” (to paraphrase), and she quit her job. When she suddenly saw Bergen (a motivational speaker / stewardess) on television telling her that even small town girls can dream big in the sky. Awwwwwww.
2) Well, there is a coincidence. At the very moment that Paltrow’s bikini top strap breaks, Ruffalo shows up looking for his flare gun (which Herb borrowed). Ruffalo busts into the room trying to scare Herb, and whoops, he instead meets Paltrow looking all cute.
3) A hunger. Paris First Class International. It’s her destiny, don’t you see? Bergen reminisces about the good old days when international flights were something of an event with people actually dressed to fly, and Paltrow’s desire to see the world reminds her of herself when she was young, up and coming.
4) Her dastardly ex-best friend switched the test! And Mike Meyers didn’t allow her to check it because it is a bitter never-was. What a disaster. But she gets to do a make up and she aces it, the first perfect score since Meyers himself went through the academy.
5) Ghost starring Demi Moore and Patrick Swayze duh. I had to throw you a real easy one at the last second. There is no way you wouldn’t have noticed that and also been like “wait … I don’t know if Ghost played on TNT in 2000s, TBS maybe, but TNT? Not so sure.” Like any normal human being would.
Bonus Answer: John Witney? What’s this all about? “There is a bomb on the plane, Donna, what do the regulations tell you to do about that?” What? Surely this is some sort of joke. Ignore it Rob Lowe, who is now inexplicably also flying the Cleveland route for Royalty, says. “Ignore this,” John Witney says, as a small explosive in the overhead bin goes off, and bags tumble around hitting several passengers in the head. “Regulation 13.4b, always check overhead bins for leftover luggage after deplaning and prior to boarding … someone’s crew doesn’t seem up to snuff.” Hmmmmm. Donna mulls it over and then calls Ted. “I need you to check on any passengers who deplaned and then immediately boarded again in Cleveland, and also … whether any of John Witney’s disgruntled ex-students has flown this route in the past two weeks.” Rob Lowe looks quizzically at here, “Witney might not be cleared to be an attendant on a flight, he does ride jump when he travels, which would make it mighty suspicious for him to ride coach here. He has to have an accomplice.” She thinks harder. “There must be another regulation.” Ted calls back, no one? Not a single drop out flew? Then it clicks … “Christine, check the manifest for a woman mid-30s in the back two rows.” She thinks harder, and quickly checks with her head flight attendant. “Did any musical instruments get checked for the flight?” “Why yes … there was a disgruntled passenger with a large guitar case. She told her to check it or deplane.” Her? That’s it! You’re supposed to offer her the option to buy another seat at half price!! They race to the baggage hold and open the case, another bomb, with only 30 seconds to go. Well … good thing Rob Lowe was in the bomb squad in Desert Storm. “What?” Donna says. “Good job Donna, … this time.” Witney says. Da da daaaaaaaaaa.
The thriller sequel View from the Top 2: Dive Bomb is coming to Tubi this fall.
