What is the term for locations where you can get dazzling views of stars due to low levels of light pollution? Dark sky? I don’t think so, I thought it was dark territories. Let’s go!
Pop Quiz Hot Shot!
1) The director of Under Siege 2 is Geoff Murphy, who is from Wellington, New Zealand. Wellington is the third largest city in New Zealand. Name the two largest cities.
2) The movie was the first feature writing credit for Matt Reeves. He partially broke out as a director on what J.J. Abrams produced creature feature?
3) This is a definitive “Die Hard on a Blank” film. It is Die Hard on the Train. If I were to describe a late 90s comedy starring Brendan Fraser as Die Hard in a Radio Station, what movie would I be talking about?
4) I forgot but Steven Seagal wrote the song which appears at the end. The lyrics are very literal. It was co-written by Gregg Allman of the Allman Brothers, who (among 8 marriages) was married to what Academy Award winning pop icon?
5) The film starts in Denver, Colorado. Between 1858 and 1862 there was a gold rush at what mountain which was named after a man named Zebulon?

Answers
1) I would hope Aukland comes to mind quite easily, but then the second is Christchurch. It should be pointed out that Wellington is tiny. Only 200K people. Significantly lower than Madison, Wisconsin for example. Murphy eventually returned to New Zealand and was the second unit director for the Lord of the Rings trilogy.
2) Cloverfield. I honestly didn’t know he directed it. I always through Abrams did. Abrams didn’t even write it, Drew Goddard did, who is the writer on the upcoming Project Hail Mary film starring Ryan Gosling.
3) That would be Airheads. It is a genuinely good movie … in some ways. It is entertaining in a “I’m 12 and this is on Comedy Central” kind of way. Very weird, but it is basically not watchable at this point, not streaming anywhere. I assume it is due to music rights.
4) I mean … is there another Academy Award winning pop icon that an Allman brother would have been married to other than Cher. To be clear the song Steven Seagal co-wrote is trash and insane. You should listen to it.
5) That would be Pikes Peak. Pikes Peak is named after Zebulon Pike, and yeah … doesn’t seem to have a possessive “s” which I find odd. Apparently it was Pike’s Peak but was simplified to Pikes Peak in 1890.
Bonus NYTimes Listing Answer: I decided to go a bit easy on you, it is Thelma & Louise. I actually could have went a little harder and asked what very famous and still very prolific director directed that film (Ridley Scott), but naw.
Thelma & Louise is a good film. Kind of crazy, but good.
