1) Johnny Cage wants to prove he isn’t Steven Seagal and is actually good at martial arts (shots fired! For the record that is a joke, I do believe Seagal is good at martial arts, don’t sue me). Lui Kang wants to avenge his brotha who was killed by Shang Tsung. And Sonya Blade is chasing Kane who killed her partner back in the real world.
2) Shang Tsung is a Sorcerer who can summons warriors from the dead. Scorpion is a … zombie of some sort with a secret skull head which can breath fire and a little things that comes out of his hand. Sub-zero can control the cold. Reptile is some sort of alien which transforms into a ninja, although that might have been incidental and not a power. Kane … is an Australian asshole. And Goro has four arms and is super duper strong.
3) There is an emperor who is pretty okay with Shang Tsung and Goro handling the day-to-day Mortal Kombat business it looks like. Goro is the Prince, but I think that is a title of some sort, they all seem to be of different Outworld species, his lives underground. And Kitana is a Princess which seems more powerful since Goro and Shang Tsung are super pissed at her all of the time.
4) Because she’s hot bro. Seriously, I think he plans on marrying her or something. It doesn’t seem like he intends to lure our good guys to Outworld, that was a huge mistake. It is possible he wants to make her one of his ghost warriors? Maybe.
5) Because Kitana considers herself the rightful ruler of Outworld and thinks the Emperor and Shang Tsung are both dicks! She’s going to do everything in her power to make sure Outworld Trashpeople fail to complete the record setting 10 Mortal Kombat winning streak.
